I've had two Accenture recruiter phone screens this year (first one stalled at the hiring manager level due to headcount freeze, second one is ongoing). Here's what the recruiter actually asks so you're not caught off guard.
Duration: both of mine were 30-35 minutes.
What they covered: Background walkthrough. Pretty brief. They had my resume in front of them and just wanted me to hit the highlights of recent roles. Two or three minutes. Why Accenture. They do ask this, and they listen to the answer. Generic "I love the culture" doesn't land well. The recruiter in my second screen nodded at specific things: global delivery model, the breadth of client industries, the ability to specialize or stay generalist. Know what kind of work you actually want to do. Role clarification. They explain the team and practice area you'd join and check that it matches what you're looking for. This is a real conversation, not a monologue. Location and logistics. Remote vs. hybrid, travel expectations. The technology consulting roles can involve significant client site travel. They ask about this explicitly. Visa and authorization. Standard yes/no, early in the call. Compensation expectations. They asked for a range in both screens. I gave a range with a floor I actually meant. They noted it and moved on.
What they didn't do: no technical questions, no behavioral scenarios, no brain teasers. That's for later rounds.
My one piece of advice: ask clarifying questions about the team structure and what a typical project looks like. Recruiters know this and it signals genuine interest. Both of my recruiters seemed to perk up when I asked about team size and delivery methodology.
